This short film offers a glimpse into Argentinean artist Karen Navarro’s world and her project América Utópica. A project in which she uses images of crowdsourced skin tones and data to create mixed-media demographic portraits that explore themes of race, ethnicity, identity and sense of belonging. Throughout the film Karen speaks about her inspiration, her creative process, and personal journey, which has been shaped by her experience as a Latin American immigrant in the US with indigenous roots.
